I dont' go anywhere without my Rebel XT or my little SD800. I love making pictures.
But I take way too many few candid photographs. I know that.
With all of my gear I should be a better photographer.
Today Lifehacker posted some helpful tips on how to take better candid photographs. Worth a read for my fellow shutterbugs.
Those look like good tips with one exception. The author recommends using a long zoom, which I think is in general a bad idea unless one is paparazzi (sp?). Being close brings out more personality - the interaction between subject and photography is part of what make most good candid photography. Furthermore, many people will notice you more if you stand far away with a long telephoto lens pointed straight at them than they would if you are close by pointing a wide angle lens not straight at them (but including them in the side of the photo). Check out this link, which for the most part I agree with -> http://www.prime-junta.net/pont/Pontification/n_Telephoto_Is_For_Wimps/a_Telephoto_Is_For_Cowards.html
