Last night Eric, Alan and I wanted to see Clap Your Hands Say Yeah at The Independent but they were sold out. So we ended up getting a beer in the Upper Haight. We had a fun night.
After I left the bar, I took a quick stroll through the Haight before catching a cab to my hotel. My first apartment in San Francisco was just a few blocks away from that neighborhood. It brought back a lot of memories.
I saw a bunch of guys clearly strung out on the street. Made me think of the old Velvet Underground song, I'm Just Waiting For the Man. Classic. Hard to believe it was recorded 40 years ago.
This morning I bought the tune from Amazon's new Mp3 store. Couldn't be easier.
Bijan,
Can you write a post on your philosophy of posting copyrighted material on your blog? I just don't get how you can buy a new tune from Amazon and turn around and post it for the world to download. Won't that ruin the party for everyone?
What am I missing? You and Fred seem totally OK with doing this.
Rich
P.S. Sorry I stuck in the law obeying world

Hi Rich-
My thoughts on the subject.
First, I buy my music as you can tell from this particular post and others.
I also encourage everyone to buy their music.
I'm not just uploading a bazillion mp3's so people can download them freely. Hopefully you see that.
Instead, I selectively write about why i love the music and upload a single track that provides some context. I hope people enjoy that. I think I do this a few times a month at max.
I sincerely believe mp3 blogs (music plus content) absolutely promotes music and are good for the industry as a whole.
I respect the artists and content owners. If they don't like it and want me to take down any file I will do so.
